The Old Fire House at 50 New North Road is an Exeter live-music institution, set in a building that served as a working fire station from the mid-1800s to the early 1930s before opening as a pub in 1986. It's known for its buzzing atmosphere and packed-out gigs — local legends, up-and-coming talent and well-known favourites — across a wide spread of genres: folk, indie, rock'n'roll, funk, reggae, soul, jazz, hip hop, Latin funk and indie disco. Friday is the main live-music night and 'Ex-Tunes' runs every Sunday, with energy that spills out into the courtyard. It's famous for its 14-inch square pizzas and pours West Country ciders and rotating craft and cask ales. House PA in place; both originals and covers welcome. Phone 01392 277279.
