The Night
The Panton Arms is a friendly traditional pub tucked away on Panton Street in Cambridge's Newtown, with four handpumps and a popular courtyard. Its regular night for players is the weekly Irish Folk Jam, usually every Thursday from around 8pm, with free entry — anyone is welcome to join in with the music. Fair warning: it's a session rather than a plug-in-and-sing open mic — acoustic, around-the-table, traditional Irish tunes — so bring an instrument and sit in rather than expecting a PA and a slot. The pub also puts on live music monthly, usually on the last Saturday of the month — check their Facebook page for what's coming up.
