Highlights
What's on Stage
The Macbeth has been a Hoxton live-music staple for 15+ years and the Wednesday open mic is one of the longer-running mid-week sessions in east London. The format is 180 minutes from 8pm, roughly 15 acts at 12 minutes each, called from the sign-up sheet in order.
The crowd is a mix of E1/E2 regulars and out-of-area performers — typically 70-100 people, listening but warm. A lot of acts use the slot as a low-pressure run-through for material they're taking to bigger Hoxton/Shoreditch bills later in the week.
Sign-up process
Sheet on the back-bar table at 7:30pm. First 12 names are guaranteed; spots 13-15 only run if earlier acts no-show. Walk-in only — no online list, no email.
Getting there
70 Hoxton Street, N1 6LP. 8 minutes from Hoxton Overground (London Overground), 12 minutes from Old Street (Northern Line). Buses 67, 149, 242, 243 stop on Kingsland Road.
The venue
Independent pub, kitchen until 9pm, full bar. The room is in the back — slightly raised stage, decent sightlines. Capacity ~150, though the open mic rarely fills it; expect a relaxed audience density.
