About The Castle Hotel
The Castle Hotel at 66 Oldham Street is one of the cornerstones of Manchester's Northern Quarter live-music scene (M4 1LE), a lively pub dating to 1776 whose curved, multicoloured glazed-faience bar front is rated by CAMRA as of outstanding national historic importance. In 2010 its cramped back room was unveiled as an 80-capacity live music venue and performance space — a celebrated testing ground for new bands, with Bill Ryder-Jones, James Bay and Soak among those who have passed through. Ian Curtis of Joy Division was famously interviewed here by John Peel. A full-backline, sound-engineered grassroots room for emerging indie, folk and alternative acts.
