About This Open Mic
The Night
The Harringay Arms runs an open mic every Wednesday in Crouch End, London, starting at 7:30pm with free entry for performers and audience. Known for music only. It's one of London's regular weekly open-mic slots — listed across [public open-mic guides](https://www.designmynight.com/london/open-mic-nights-in-london).
Sign-up opens at 7pm on a walk-in basis (no advance booking). Slots run 15-15 minutes per act — typically 3 songs solo or 4 for a band. PA and at least one vocal mic provided. Bring your own instrument, amp and any pedals.
Sign-up process
The sign-up sheet goes out at 7pm at the venue. Popular wednesdays fill within 30-60 minutes — arrive early if you want a guaranteed slot. There is no advance booking, no online sign-up, no email list — strictly walk-in.
What to expect
London open-mic crowds skew 25-40 and listen attentively — this isn't a chatter-over-the-music pub mic. Solo songwriters, duos and acoustic acts work best given the gear set-up; full bands should ask the host before turning up. The "Music only" tag captures what regulars come back for week after week.
About Wooden Cross (formerly Harringay Arms)
Now trading as The Wooden Cross (the former Harringay Arms, which closed and reopened in 2024), this is a cosy, dog-friendly pub on Crouch Hill in Crouch End, north London (N8), with wooden finishes, comfortable seating and an outdoor garden. It runs live music two to three times a week or more across a variety of artists, and hosts a monthly blues jam in memory of local musician Jimmy C on the second Sunday of each month from 4pm. The pub pours well-kept ales (including a well-regarded Guinness) plus cocktails and wine, and houses an Italian kitchen, Sicilia in Tavola, serving home-style food. A PA is provided for performers; bring your own backline.

Planning Your Wednesday Night
