Chamfer is a Bristol-based project led by artist and performer Matt White, whose background in visual art and performance shapes the project’s distinctive approach to songwriting and live shows. Formed in 2022 as a solo recording outlet, Chamfer evolved into a live band following the creation of the album It Feels Like, driven by a desire to bring the project’s energy into a shared, physical space. Rooted in indie, Chamfer’s sound blends sharp, thoughtful lyricism with infectious melodies, vocal harmonies and an understated sense of play. Drawing on elements of indie rock, post-punk and alternative pop, the focus remains firmly on words—how they sound, how they land, and how they hold both personal reflection and wider observation at once. At its core, Chamfer is about asking questions: of identity, memory, change and the everyday structures that shape how we live. Songwriting becomes a way of thinking out loud—turning fleeting moments and half-formed thoughts into something tangible and shared.
