AKWA is a London-via-Toronto DJ and selector known for distinctive vinyl sets, deep record knowledge and an instinct for creating shapeshifting sets. Behind the decks since his early teens, AKWA landed his first club residency at 16 and has spent close to two decade developing a collection that stretches through house, disco, funk, reggae, progressive, garage, and beyond. Rather than being tied to one sound, his approach is built around atmosphere, movement and selection, allowing him to move comfortably between intimate listening spaces, dance floors, festival stages and everything in between. Now based in East London, AKWA has performed internationally across Canada, the UK, Europe and the US, including two appearances at Veld Music Festival alongside regular sets at Corsica Studios, All My Friends, CODA, Bambi’s, Night Tales Loft, HÖR Berlin and The Lot Radio in New York. Over the years, AKWA has also gained an appreciation for playing intimate rooms and regularly performs at listening bars across the pond and back at venues such as Chiave, Godet, The Little Jerry, FONO, All My Friends and more. Adjacent to the DJ booth, AKWA is the founder of SIGNAL, a grassroots events and music project operating between London, Ottawa and Toronto. Years spent programming parties, collecting records and playing to vastly different crowds have shaped him into a versatile selector.
