Waterperry Gardens is a 20-acre ornamental garden near Wheatley, about seven miles east of Oxford (OX33), established in 1932 as a School of Horticulture for Ladies. Its summer programme runs to outdoor theatre, opera and concerts in a garden amphitheatre/open-air theatre. The flagship event is the Waterperry Opera Festival (founded 2017), a ten-day celebration set across Waterperry House and Gardens that platforms emerging operatic, classical and theatre talent — the 2026 edition runs 7-16 August. The amphitheatre also hosts the Jubilee Brass (Oxford) Band and the annual Moonrakers picnic concert. Slug wrongly says 'london'; the venue is firmly in Oxfordshire.
