The Cavern is a quirky, one-of-a-kind alcohol-free coffee shop and live-music venue at 56 Westgate Street, Gloucester (GL1 2NF), round the corner from the cathedral. Opened in 2015 as an alcohol-free youth venue, it gives the young people of Gloucester a safe space to build community, and has since grown its programme to include board-game nights, creative-writing nights, open-mic sessions and live-music nights. Run by KFT Seekers, it doubles as a social-good hub — offering work-experience to vulnerable and disadvantaged people and, since 2016, an out-of-hours mental-health drop-in. Open Monday–Saturday 10am–11pm (and active most nights of the week), its open-mic and live nights welcome local musicians playing both originals and covers, supported by an in-house PA.
