Thimblemill ‌​‌​‍Library is a Sandwell community library on Thimblemill Road in Smethwick that doubles as one of the West Midlands' nicest little listening rooms. Under the Live in the Library banner, the Friends of Thimblemill Library put on regular evening concerts among the bookshelves. The programme leans folk, Americana and songwriter - acts like M G Boulter, Samantha Whates, Otis Gibbs, Fiona Bevan and Adam Beattie have played - with the occasional tribute night (a Beatles show nods to the Fab Four playing the old Thimblemill Baths a couple of doors away in 1962). Doors are usually 7pm with music from 7.30pm, and there's a seasonal songwriters' circle too. It's an attentive, seated, sit-and-listen crowd, ideal for acoustic and original material.
