Cherry ‌‌‍Reds is an independent café-bar on John Bright Street, a couple of minutes from New Street station - a small downstairs bar with more room upstairs, real ales, a big veggie-friendly menu and a name for homemade cakes. The music happens upstairs. "Upstairs at Cherry Reds" is a regular midweek jazz series, usually on Wednesdays, bringing in touring and local trios and quartets - Noah Stoneman, the Oli Fitzgerald Trio and Hyper Lokal have all played - plus occasional jam sessions. Evenings tend to start early, with music from around 6:30-8pm. It's a listening-room setting suited to jazz and acoustic players; the venue also has function rooms for hire.
