01 — Quick overview

Where to Book Oktoberfest Bands

GIGXCHANGE is where you book Oktoberfest bands direct in the UK. 51 party bands and 95 folk singers and bands are on the platform. Listen to each act on their profile, message them before you commit, and every booking comes with a contract you both sign. GigXchange takes 0% of the artist's booking fee, and the booking fee is 5% on top only when you pay through GigXchange – 0% when you settle privately.

An Oktoberfest night is a beer festival with a party band: sing-alongs, drinking songs and a few Bavarian favourites. UK pubs and beer festivals hold them from mid-September to the end of October. GigXchange has no oompah bands listed yet, so most nights book a party band or a folk act and ask for a Bavarian set - or post the event saying you want an oompah band and be ready to arrange one separately. For October’s other big night, see Halloween entertainment.

04 — Booking playbook

Booking Playbook

Here’s the practical version, not the marketing one. Each card covers one decision: when to book, what format works and the mistakes that cost bookers money.

When to BookBook eight to ten weeks ahead for a September or October weekend. Beer festivals plan their programmes over the summer, so send the offer once the dates are set.
What Format WorksParty band with a Bavarian set: sing-alongs and party songs. Folk act: drinking songs and tunes for a pub. Oompah band: none are listed on GigXchange yet - post the event saying what you want, and be ready to arrange one separately. DJ: a themed party after the band.
Mistakes to Avoid1. Assuming the band knows the songs. Ask for a Bavarian set and send the songs you want. 2. Not saying it is themed. Tell the act about the costumes and the theme. 3. No space on a crowded floor. Plan where the band plays among the beer benches. 4. No finish time. Agree it in writing. 5. A handshake deal. Book through GigXchange and the contract is created for you.
05 — Pick your line-up

Pick Your Line-up

What each kind of act is, and which Oktoberfest night it suits. Fees for each line-up are in the live table below, so you can match the size of the act to your budget and your room.

Party band with a Bavarian setA 4- or 5-piece band playing sing-alongs and party songs. Suits: Pubs and company parties - see party bands.
Folk actA duo or trio with drinking songs and tunes. Suits: Smaller pubs - see folk acts.
Oompah bandBrass and accordion in the Bavarian style - none listed on GigXchange yet, so you may need to arrange one separately. Suits: Beer festivals and themed nights.
DJOne person with a full PA. Suits: The party after the band - see DJs.

Not sure which to pick?

Tell the act the room, the guest numbers and what the music is for - drinks, dinner or dancing - and they will suggest a line-up. Post your date free on GIGXCHANGE and acts of every size can apply.

06 — By occasion

See every UK fee table on GX Index rates or set a budget with the gig rate calculator.
