The Rook & Gaskill is a beloved real-ale beerhouse on Lawrence Street in York, with 28-plus craft ales and a long-running 'Rookoustic' open mic tradition started over a decade ago. The format is a fair, arrival-order three-song rule — as the founder put it, 'if Bono shows up he has to wait his turn with everyone else' — and sessions historically kicked off around 8:30pm. We can't currently confirm the open mic still runs to a fixed schedule, so check the pub's Facebook page before heading over.
