Evil Eye Lounge is a quirky cocktail bar at 42 Stonegate — York's oldest street — hidden away above a specialist gin shop that you walk through to reach the upstairs bar. Billed as the "home of the bizarre, weird and wonderful", it's decked out with colourful murals, vintage furniture and neon lights, and specialises in fresh-ingredient cocktails. Music is the theme every Thursday, when it hosts York's longest-running open-mic night, kicking off at 8pm — backed up by karaoke on Tuesdays and a quiz on Wednesdays. Open from 2pm midweek and from noon at weekends (until 1am Friday and Saturday), the intimate, eclectic space is a long-standing fixture for York's acoustic and singer-songwriter scene.

The Night
Tucked away behind a specialist gin shop on Stonegate, Evil Eye is a quirky cocktail lounge that hosts York's longest-running open-mic night every Thursday from 8pm, hosted by resident band The Moths. Mics, guitars, pedals, bass, percussion and more are available, so you can travel light.
