The Wrekin Inn at 26 Wrekin Road, Wellington (Telford, Shropshire, TF1 1RH) is a traditional family-run real-ale pub reopened by Rowton Brewery in November 2021 after an extensive refurbishment. It pours four Rowton beers plus two guests and a real cider on handpull, across two areas and a pool room warmed by two log burners. The entertainment calendar is busy: live music every weekend plus Open Mic Nights, Blues Nights, Vinyl Nights, DJ nights and Quiz Nights. The weekly open mic runs every Tuesday — free beer for performers — and is open to all ages and styles, from folk, blues and rock to jazz and classical. Children and dogs welcome; house PA in place.

The Night
The Wrekin Inn in Wellington runs a friendly open mic every Tuesday from 8pm, and it's been a fixture for local players for years. No booking — just turn up and let Jo know you'd like a slot; most people play three or four songs depending on numbers, and all styles and setups are welcome, from solo acoustic to full bands playing folk, rock or blues. A PA with monitors runs through a small mixing desk, and as a lovely touch there's free beer for everyone who performs. Free to attend, free to play.
