The Wheatsheaf is a historic 18th-century half-timbered town-centre pub at 50 High Street, Shrewsbury, overlooking St Julian's Church, with six handpumps and pavement seating. Live music is what it excels at — folk and acoustic aplenty, with performances on weekday evenings showcasing local talent, and it is an official LOOPFEST venue. The kitchen's award-winning chef prepares fresh food from local produce with a regularly changing specials menu. Open daily 11am to late. As an established gig venue it provides a house PA and welcomes both originals and covers.

About This Open Mic
The Night
The Wheatsheaf on Shrewsbury's High Street is a characterful, half-timbered traditional pub, and its open mic — hosted by Fergus Reid — runs fortnightly on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. It's a genuinely lovely setting: an intimate, candlelit upstairs lounge that brings out some of the best local talent in a warm, unhurried atmosphere with good food and drink all night. Entry is free, so just come along, sign up and play a few songs.
