The Dolphin is an 1887 Victorian pub at 30 Osborne Road South in St Denys, Southampton, with eight handpumps and a serious live-music habit. Its open mic runs every Wednesday from 7:30pm, with sign-up from 7pm — and it's one of the most genre-open nights around, explicitly welcoming acoustic, rock/punk/metal, blues, folk, jazz, funk & soul, rap/hip-hop/beatbox, reggae, electronica, poetry and spoken word. It's a busy, welcoming room for everyone from first-timers to seasoned players. On the third Saturday of each month the open mic moves outdoors onto a festival stage in the beer garden, and the pub also books live bands Friday through Sunday most weeks, plus jazz and DJ nights. The Night
The Dolphin is a handsome Victorian local (built 1887) on Osborne Road South in St Denys, and it runs an open mic every Wednesday evening. The sign-up sheet goes out from 7pm with the music starting around 7:30 and running till 11, walk-in and all welcome. It's a proper community pub night — a warm, supportive room for songwriters and acoustic acts to try out a few numbers midweek.
