The Night
Comedy Raw is Mates Rates Comedy's long-running stand-up open mic — billed as Reading's No.1 — and it now runs every Monday at the Pentahotel on Oxford Road, Reading RG1 7RH (it previously ran at The Outlook on Kings Road). Doors open at 7pm and the show runs 7:30pm to 9:30pm, with five new acts taking the stage each week.
How to get a spot Sign-up is in person between 6:30pm and 7pm — arrive after 7pm and your name won't go into the bucket. Spots are drawn at random from the bucket at 7pm, sets are 5-minute walk-on spots, and acts must stick to their time. Performers who don't get drawn can watch the show for free.
Cost Entry is £5 on the door for audience members, and your event wristband gets you 15% off drinks at the bar. Expect big laughs, moments of cringe and the odd star of the future — whatever happens, it won't be dull.
