London Road Campus refers to the University of Reading's historic London Road site (Redlands, Reading) — the University's original home — whose principal performance space is The Great Hall. Opened in 1905, the Edwardian hall has a high vaulted ceiling, rich wood panelling, large arched windows and a fixed stage with a magnificent organ and grand piano, seating audiences of 350 to 500. Balanced acoustics make it especially well-suited to orchestral, choral and chamber programmes, but it also hosts tribute and pop shows, recitals and ceremonial events. The hall is hired by external promoters (from around £1,210), with capacity up to 500 guests.
