The Port Mahon is a Grade II-listed traditional free house on St Clement's Street in Oxford (OX4 1AW), a multi-room pub with a courtyard back garden and a long-standing reputation on the city's grassroots circuit. The upstairs room hosts gigs most nights — live music, comedy and talks — while the downstairs back bar runs open mic and folk sessions, so there is something on across most of the week. A PA is provided and the room welcomes both original acts and covers, making it a reliable, unpretentious stage for emerging Oxford talent as well as touring bands passing through. Real-ale free house upstairs, intimate sessions downstairs: it covers both ends of the small-venue spectrum.

About The Port Mahon

About This Open Mic
The Night
The Port Mahon is a characterful real-ale pub on St Clement's Street (est. 1710), long a hub for Oxford's folk and acoustic scene, with French/Breton, Scandi and Galician trad sessions in its back bar. Its general music open mic, however, is confirmed as no longer running as of early 2025. The folk sessions are still well worth a look, but if you're after a true open mic you'll need to look elsewhere in Oxford.
