Packed with character and history, it hosts the best local live music in its huge covered stables area, with a large partly-covered outside patio also used for live music on occasion — alongside live sport on multiple screens. Open Monday–Saturday 11:00–22:00 and Sunday from noon, it's a welcoming community local for original acts and covers in central Ipswich.

The Night
The Halberd Inn is a characterful 17th-century pub on Northgate Street in the heart of Ipswich, with a big covered former-stables area for live music and sport. Its open mic runs on Friday evenings from 7pm til 11pm — grab a guitar, keyboard or anything else and join in, with a full PA and a friendly crowd provided. One thing to note: backing tracks can't be accommodated, so it's a live-instrument and voice night. Free to come down and play.
