The Night
A long-running weekly open mic at the Victoria Inn, a traditional pub on North Station Road close to Colchester North station. The exact pattern is every Wednesday except the first Wednesday of the month, so it runs on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and any 5th Wednesday. The sign-up board goes up around 7.30pm and the mic goes live around 8pm, running to about 10.45pm. Performers usually get two or three songs, up to about 15 minutes, depending on how many people turn up, and those arriving before 9pm are prioritised. Guitar, piano, cajon and microphones are provided.
