Spring Bank Tavern is Hull's dedicated rock, metal, punk and gaming pub at 29 Spring Bank — a pub dating to the 1820s that was fully refurbished and reopened in October 2021. It's a proper multi-genre alternative local covering rock, mod, indie and britpop, with a growing real-ale range (2-5 ales on the bar) and plenty of spirits. Live bands feature frequently, alongside a weekly quiz, a monthly open mic, karaoke and themed gaming nights — including dedicated rock-night events listed on VisitHull. A genuine grassroots stage for heavier and alternative acts in the city.

The Night
The Spring Bank Tavern is an independent, rock-leaning pub in Hull (29 Spring Bank) running an anything-goes open mic on the third Thursday of every month, hosted by local comedian Alex Hall. Play a song or two, try out spoken word, tell jokes or do sketch comedy, from straight covers to strange performance poetry, it all fits here.
