Friars Square is Aylesbury's central shopping centre, and it runs a free, community-spirited Sunday Lunch Open Mic on the first Sunday of the month from 12pm to 3pm, giving local musicians, bands, dance troupes and aspiring poets a public stage. There is no advance sign-up: performers rock up on the day, add their name to the open mic board and perform music, poetry, readings or recitals through the centre's PA. Electro-acoustic instruments are welcome, and dance groups can bring their tracks on a tablet, phone or laptop to be played through the system. The sessions are free to be part of and are supported by the centre itself. It is an informal, all-ages platform rather than a dedicated gig venue, but a genuine outlet for grassroots Aylesbury talent.

The Night
