The Prince Albert is an independent, family-run pub and live-music venue at 48 Trafalgar Street, a stone's throw from Brighton station in the North Laine (BN1 4ED). Music is the beating heart of the place: its upstairs room is a long-standing fixture on the Brighton circuit, putting on regular gigs across alternative and indie rock, post-hardcore, folk-punk, soul, hip-hop and noise/electronic, plus a relaxed live-jazz slot on Sunday lunchtimes alongside roasts served until 9pm. The venue marked its 10th anniversary in June 2026 and carries a busy diary — 40-plus shows booked across 2026–27 — making it one of the city's most dependable rooms for touring underground acts and emerging local bands. No kitchen now, but you're welcome to bring your own food.

About The Prince Albert

About This Open Mic
The Night
The Prince Albert sits 2 minutes from Brighton station and runs one of the most-cited open mics on the south coast. The upstairs room is the same stage the venue uses for paid bills (David Gray, Florence and the Machine all played early sets here), so the sound rig is genuinely good.
Format is 180 minutes, 15 acts at 12 minutes each. Brighton's songwriting scene is dense, so the standard is consistently high — expect a mix of solo songwriters, duos and the occasional full band.
Sign-up process
Sheet upstairs at 7:30pm. First 12 confirmed, last 3 conditional. Walk-in only.
Getting there
48 Trafalgar Street, BN1 4ED. 2 minutes from Brighton Rail. Most central buses pass within 200m.
The venue
