About The Font

The ‌‌‍Font occupies a former 17th-century chapel in Brighton's South Lanes, on Union Street — a striking two-tier space with a sweeping circular bar and original wooden pulpits overlooking the floor. Relaxed by day, it turns into a party bar at night with DJs, live sport, quiz nights and themed weekenders. Live music runs every Friday and Saturday from 9:45pm, with a rotating roster of local acts (Dessie Magee, MJ Reavey, Dave J Giles, Christian Cooley and Alfie among them), and there's karaoke every Thursday from 9pm till midnight. A central, lively grassroots music spot that programmes covers and original sets alike.

The Night

The ‌‌‍Font's converted-chapel home on Union Street in Brighton's South Lanes has been rebranded as O'Neill's Brighton, and the venue no longer advertises its old Monday open mic — current listings show commercial/pop and party nights rather than a performer slot. We found no evidence the open mic survived the change, so this isn't currently a night to turn up to for a slot; Brighton's other open mics are a better bet unless it resurfaces under the new name.
