The Folklore Rooms is Brighton's premier intimate folk venue, tucked above The Quadrant pub at 12 North Street (BN1 3GJ) in the heart of the city. Launched in 2021 out of the Folklore Sessions promotion, it's a beautifully intimate 60-70 capacity performance space kitted out with top-of-the-line sound and lighting and cared for by a dedicated team of in-house engineers. It runs shows seven nights a week — from its own monthly showcase nights to full-band gigs — and has hosted the likes of John Smith, Passenger, Bess Atwell, Wunderhorse, Jamie Lawson, Joshua Hyslop and Great Lake Swimmers among hundreds of touring and local artists. A strong craft-beer selection on tap rounds out the experience.

The Night
The Folklore Rooms is a 60 to 70 capacity listening room above The Quadrant pub on North Street in central Brighton, run by the Folklore promoters (started by songwriter Jacko Hooper in 2014) and dedicated to folk, acoustic and indie-folk. It does not run an open mic: its listings from September 2026 through to April 2027 are booked, ticketed shows most nights of the week, typically 8:30pm starts. The nearest things to an open stage are the Folklore Monthly Showcase (curated emerging artists, first come first served on the door) and the NEXT WAVE singer-songwriter showcase of eight unsigned local acts, both booked in advance rather than sign-up nights. We keep the page up in case a sign-up night appears.
