Sixty Million Postcards is a quirky, versatile bar and cultural hub at 19 Exeter Road in central Bournemouth, opposite the BIC. It's earned its name with homemade food, buoyant quiz nights, live bands and all-singing, all-dancing DJ nights, and it programmes a genuinely eclectic calendar — live music, DJ sets, art exhibitions, film screenings and even musical bingo. The venue runs a popular open mic night welcoming both original songs and covers across mixed genres, and it's a regular fixture on the Bournemouth grassroots gig circuit. A large, modern room serving a mixed crowd in the heart of the town centre.

The Night
Sixty Million Postcards, the much-loved quirky cafe-bar at 19-21 Exeter Road in central Bournemouth, has closed and the site has reopened as The Sun (a Mitchells & Butlers pub, on CAMRA's books under the new name since March 2026). Its old Thursday open mic - a free, over-18s night hosted by Alex Allen, running roughly 7:30pm to 10:30pm - ended with the original venue.
What runs there now
The Sun's own listings show a Big Smart Quiz every Sunday (entry from GBP 4, cash prize), booked live acts on Saturday evenings from 8pm to 10pm, DJ nights at the weekend and late opening until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. There is no recurring open mic on the current programme, so treat this listing as closed and check @thesunbournemouth for what's on now.
