St John's Arms is a traditional family-run village pub on the edge of Melchbourne, about ten miles north of Bedford. It serves seasonal food, cask beer and wines, with cosy fireplaces inside and large gardens outside. Regular events include a Tuesday pub quiz, Wednesday steak club, Thursday pie and pint night, Friday fish and chips and live music. The monthly open mic falls on the last Thursday.
