Farnham Maltings is one of Surrey's busiest and most diverse arts centres, housed in a converted 1792 maltings building beside the river in the heart of Farnham. The Great Hall takes up to 410 seated on raked and flat seating or 500 standing, and can be reduced to a flat studio layout for 234 while keeping the stage. The Tindle Studio and Cellar Bar handle smaller shows. The year-round programme spans jazz, folk, classical and touring artists. The open mic runs on Tuesday evenings in the Cellar Bar from 8.15pm, described as a relaxed and inclusive night of new and established acts sharing poetry, spoken word and comedy. Slots are five minutes each, the content must suit ages 16 and over, entry is pay what you choose and performers apply through a form on the event page. With a bar, a cafe and a long-standing reputation as a community cultural hub, it is a welcoming stage for first-timers and seasoned acts alike.

The Night
Farnham Maltings runs a relaxed, inclusive open mic in its atmospheric Cellar Bar — a low-ceilinged, exposed-brick room — bringing together new and established acts sharing poetry, spoken word and comedy. Sessions start at 8.15pm and run for roughly 90 minutes, with performing slots of five minutes each; you sign up in advance via the form on the Maltings website, and slots fill quickly, with a waiting list when full. Entry is pay-what-you-choose. The Cellar Bar has a small stage with lighting and a house sound system, and all material must be suitable for ages 16 and over.
