We’re an Edinburgh-based guitar and vocal duo performing a blend of soul, R&B, jazz, pop and acoustic favourites. We met while studying Engineering at the University of Edinburgh and have performed together for the past three years, developing versatile live sets suited to restaurants, bars, private events and intimate venues. Both of us bring strong musical backgrounds to the duo. Liya is a classically trained vocalist who has performed and competed from a young age, achieving numerous placings in singing competitions. Alongside vocals, she studied piano for nine years and achieved ABRSM Grade 8 Piano with Distinction, giving her a strong foundation in musicianship and performance. Matthew has played guitar since the age of 13 and has developed a distinctive style combining jazz-influenced harmony with rhythmic, funk-inspired playing. His experience has included a range of live performances and high-profile occasions attended by members of the Royal Family, helping develop both his musicianship and confidence as a performer. Our wider experience includes performances at Whistle Binkies and Brewhemia in Edinburgh, as well as university events, parties and a music showcase during our year abroad in Los Angeles. Performing in such varied settings has taught us how to read a room, adapt our set and create the right atmosphere, whether that means relaxed background music or a more energetic, crowd-focused performance.
