Cristian Jermane is a mixed-race British singer, songwriter, producer and filmmaker of English and Jamaican heritage, creating a sound he describes as “old school, new cool” — rooted in the musicianship, melody and soul of classic R&B, but shaped by the sound and attitude of contemporary music. Drawing inspiration from the timeless artistry of Michael Jackson, Prince and Stevie Wonder, the sophisticated soul of Maxwell and D’Angelo, and the atmospheric, genre-blurring approach of artists such as Bryson Tiller, The Weeknd and Anderson .Paak, Cristian bridges generations of Black music without simply recreating the past. His music combines soulful vocals, memorable songwriting, analogue synthesisers, live instrumentation and the warmth of vintage recording techniques with the punch, space and low-end of modern R&B production. The result is music that feels nostalgic without being retro — familiar in its DNA, but contemporary in its execution. At the centre of Cristian’s current creative universe is Gifted, an original 14-episode musical drama featuring 32 original songs. Blurring the boundaries between artist project, soundtrack and narrative filmmaking, Gifted allows the songs to live within a larger story while remaining records designed to stand on their own. Alongside Gifted, Cristian is developing projects including Eternity Groove, further exploring the meeting point between soul, funk, R&B and contemporary production. As an independent artist, Cristian remains hands-on throughout the entire creative process — songwriting, arranging, recording and producing his music, as well as developing the visual world surrounding it.
