How do notifications work, and how do I turn some off?
Open Dashboard and choose Notifications from the bar along the top. On an organiser account there is no dashboard — open Messages and choose Notifications there instead. Everything that needs your attention lands in that one list — booking offers, replies and status changes, new messages, and new reviews — and the badge on the bell counts what you have not read yet.
A notification is marked read when you go to it. The list, the bell and the badge always agree. To clear the lot in one go, press the tick icon at the top right of the page header — it has no label on screen, but hovering it (or a screen reader) will say Mark all read.
Use the Unread filter to see only what is still waiting, or the type filter to narrow the list to one specific kind — Booking Request, Counter Offer, Payment Received, New Message, New Review and the rest. Older entries load with Load More.
Getting too many? On the same screen, switch from Feed to Preferences: each category has its own switch there. Turning a category off stops new entries of that kind appearing in the list and on the bell; the ones already there stay visible. Pause all notifications is the master switch and turns every alert off, including the badge.
Updates from GigXchange itself and member conversation live on the Noticeboard instead — see what is the Noticeboard?. Messages themselves always arrive in your inbox — see how does messaging work?.
