Mondays bring piano-led quartets with local pianists such as Karl Mullen and Mike Conliffe. On Fridays from 8:30pm Karl Mullen plays solo piano, and Sunday evenings rotate between the Ian Chalk Quartet, a contemporary jazz band led by Chris Moore and Dan Clarkson's trio with a guest soloist. On the third Thursday of the month the Bad Saloon Blues Band plays Chicago blues and Texas blues rock.
It is an unspoilt, independently run pub with no gaming machines, televisions or jukebox, and a paved beer garden looking onto the city walls.
