The Variety Bar opened in 1970 as the Norsk Inn, and the bar's own site says live music is a regular fixture, with usually something on. It also describes regular live music and DJ nights. It does not publish specific days or acts.
The Art Deco interior is original, and the famous fish tank has been a centrepiece for decades. Owner-operator Gayle has run the bar since 2020.
It is on the corner at 401 Sauchiehall Street, three minutes from the King's Theatre. The bar also has NO MEAN RADIO, an in-house recording studio available free of charge to independent voices.
