The Grizzly Bear is a community local on Nursery Road in Sunbury-on-Thames, a short walk from Upper Halliford station with the 557 bus stopping outside. It is a proper pub rather than a dedicated music room: pool table, dartboard, beer garden, car park, dogs and families welcome, and the function space is used for wedding receptions, wakes and birthday parties. Live music sits alongside that - the pub lists a weekly open mic night, fortnightly quiz nights, DJ and karaoke nights, and occasional live acts (a Saturday covers set from the 50s to the 90s, starting 8.30pm, is the kind of booking advertised). Published hours are Monday 2pm to 8pm, Tuesday to Friday 2pm to 11pm and Saturday from noon. For an artist it is a friendly first-rung room in the Spelthorne/Sunbury pub circuit, best for acoustic and covers sets.
