The Duke of Cambridge — Quick Facts
The closest pub to Twickenham Stadium - an independent Whitton local trading since 1857, with regular live music and bands on international rugby days.
The Duke of Cambridge sits on Kneller Road in Whitton, about eight minutes from Twickenham Stadium and The Stoop, home of Harlequins - which has made it one of the best-known pre-match pubs in the area.
It opened as a beer house called Emma Cottage in 1857, when a Mr Stephen Woodlands of the Phoenix Brewery took a lease to trade as a "beer seller and licensed victualler". It was first recorded under its present name in 1861, taken from Queen Victoria's cousin, who established the School of Military Music at Kneller Hall opposite. The site is little altered today.
The pub runs regular live music alongside its sport calendar, and books bands on international rugby days and for private parties. Independent operator. Open noon to midnight Monday to Saturday, and noon to 11.30pm on Sunday.
