Sidney & Matilda is one of Sheffield's most dynamic independent music and event venues, set in the Rivelin Works in a former industrial district on the edge of the city centre. Open since 2018, it spreads across warehouse, basement and courtyard spaces with three rooms of different sizes: the 300-capacity Gallery Room (its newest and biggest), the 180-capacity Basement Room, and the intimate 80-capacity Factory Room that's ideal for up-and-coming artists. Its What's On calendar runs gigs, resident DJs, club nights and the occasional film screening or exhibition, making it a hub for indie, rock, alternative and electronic acts across South Yorkshire. With a proper ticketed-venue setup it's well suited to original touring and emerging artists rather than casual covers nights.

About Sidney & Matilda

About This Open Mic
The Night
Sidney & Matilda is one of Sheffield's most versatile independent venues (three rooms at Rivelin Works on Sidney Street), and its open mic, 'Thirst Thursday', runs on the first Thursday of the month. It's an open evening of live unplugged music where any musical or artistic discipline is welcome — drop in to show off, test new material, reshape a classic, or just make art for art's sake. It's free, every performer gets a free drink of choice, and there's happy hour for the audience.
