The Malt Cross is a Grade II-listed Victorian music hall at 16 St James's Street in Nottingham city centre (NG1 6FG), just off Old Market Square. Originally built in 1877 and restored in 1997, it is the only Victorian music hall in the country still operating as its original design intended — providing food, drink and live music under its glazed barrel roof. A 2014 Heritage Lottery-funded restoration expanded it across six levels, opening the sandstone caves beneath for tours and adding an art gallery and a sound-recording room. Run as a social enterprise, it pairs award-winning ales and quality food with a lively arts, music and events programme.
