The Champion is a cosy pub in the centre of Norwich at 101 Chapelfield Road (NR2 1SE), directly opposite the Chantry Place (Chapelfield) shopping centre. A Batemans house, it always has cask beer on the bar plus a strong gin selection, with homemade food served Wednesday to Saturday. Live music is a regular fixture: an open-mic night every Thursday 8–11pm, live music fortnightly, and karaoke every Sunday 4–8pm. Opening hours are Wed & Thu 12:00–23:00, Fri & Sat 12:00–01:00 and Sun 12:00–22:00 (closed Mon & Tue). The PA-equipped room welcomes both originals and covers from local performers.

The Night
The Champion is a cosy, traditional Batemans pub right in the centre of Norwich, opposite the Chapelfield shopping centre and known for its warm welcome. The pub's own listing now bills its performer night as a Monday Night Acoustic Evening from 7:30pm onwards, all abilities welcome, so bring a guitar or just a voice and get up and play. The old Thursday open mic no longer appears anywhere on the pub's listings, and CAMRA's entry (updated March 2026) agrees: acoustic night, 7.30, Monday. The rest of the week: karaoke every Sunday from 4pm, live bands on selected Friday and Saturday evenings, and a happy hour from 5pm to 6pm (not Sundays).
