About This Open Mic
The Night
Crossgates Rec Club is a friendly community social club in east Leeds, and its open mic night runs on Tuesdays from 8pm. It's an all-comers, no-pressure night that welcomes singers, poets and comedians alike — 'music needs an audience, so come along and enjoy the show.' Note it's a members' club, so entry to club events is generally for members and their guests; pop in or call ahead (0113 293 0529) if you're not a member and want to play or watch.
About Crossgates Recreation Hall
Crossgates & District Recreation Hall (the 'Rec Club') is a members' social club founded in 1908 on Poplar Avenue, just off Austhorpe Road in Crossgates, Leeds (LS15 8EB). The original building survives a 1960s fire and houses a large upstairs concert/function room with lift access, plus a ground-floor bar with snooker tables and a bowling green to the rear. It puts on a number of live music events each month — typically covers, tribute and party bands — and is open to the public. An in-house PA supports the programme.
