Bookings & Gigs

Does Martyn's Law apply to my venue?

GigXchange has a Martyn's Law Readiness tool that answers this for your venue. It is on venue accounts only: open Bookings, choose Compliance, then press the shield icon at the top right of the page header - it has no words on screen; hovering it says Martyn's Law Readiness.

Answer the Six quick questions: how many people can be present at once, what you run, whether you control the premises, whether you have written emergency procedures, whether you employ staff and whether you host public events.

Your tier then tells you whether the law applies and which tier you fall into, with a link to the official guidance. If duties apply, each one is listed with why it matters and an official link. Tick each duty as you put it in place, and Your readiness shows how many are done.

When your venue is in scope, a Procedures draft section appears. Fill in five short answers - who leads if something happens, evacuation routes, the safest place inside, how staff alert each other and where responders find keys and plans - then press Generate the draft (PDF) and then Download. Anything left blank becomes a prompt in the document, so you can also print it and fill it in by hand.

To download your results, press the download-arrow icon in the page header (hovering it says Export), choose Readiness summary or Procedures draft, and press Download. Completed answers save to your account automatically. Start over begins a fresh set; your saved answers stay until you complete the new one.

This is guidance, not legal or security advice. Check your duties against the statutory guidance and ProtectUK, both linked on the page.
