Weymouth Pavilion is the resort's landmark seafront entertainment complex, standing at the end of The Esplanade (DT4 8ED) between Weymouth Harbour and the beach. Originally built in 1908 and rebuilt in 1958 after a fire, the current building houses a 988-seat proscenium theatre plus the 600-capacity Ocean Room ballroom, a piano bar, café and function rooms. It hosts a year-round programme of touring theatre, pantomime, comedy, orchestral concerts and live music — from tribute shows and pop acts to name draws such as Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. A community-supported, council-linked venue, it is firmly active and one of Dorset's busiest mid-scale stages.
