The Octagon Theatre in Yeovil is currently closed ahead of a £15m transformation into a flagship centre for the creative arts, funded by £10m from DCMS, £3.75m from Yeovil Town Council and just over £1.25m from ticket levy income, fundraising and section 106 contributions. Planning permission was granted in 2026 and works are expected to begin in the 2026/27 financial year, covering the auditorium and rehearsal space, front-of-house, accessibility (including a Changing Places facility and an accessible dressing room) and plant renewal. Until it reopens, all events and activities move to its sister venue, Westlands Entertainment Venue in Yeovil. The 600-capacity room hosted rock, folk, jazz, comedy and theatre with an in-house PA and engineer, and is expected to return in a substantially upgraded form.
