About Thistle Park Tavern
Thistle Park Tavern is a grassroots music venue in The Barbican, Plymouth. PA system and vocal mics are provided; bring your own instruments and amps.
Thistle Park Tavern books Ska, Rock, Punk acts. Both original music and covers are welcome. This listing is part of the Plymouth venue directory.
The Thistle Park Tavern is a much-loved free house tucked just off Plymouth's Barbican on Commercial Road (PL4 0LE), reached across the swing-bridge close to the National Marine Aquarium. It's one of the best-rated live music pubs in the city, with bands on every Friday and Saturday evening running late — the bar stays open until 03:00 at weekends — and a roster that leans hard into ska, rock, punk and beyond. Alongside the gigs it pours a regularly changing guest ale (Adnams Ghost Ship, Bath Ales Gem or something from local brewery Summerskills) plus a rotating real cider. Well-defined spaces let you get right up close to the stage or retreat somewhere quieter, and the in-house PA supports both touring originals and covers acts. A genuine grassroots fixture of Plymouth's gig scene, open seven days (Mon–Thu and Sun to midnight, Fri/Sat to 3am).
