About the night

Ver ‌‌‍Poets runs open-mic poetry evenings with a featured poet at The Saint & Sinner on occasional Wednesdays, 7pm for a 7.30pm start. The event is free and open to all; readers sign up on the night from 7pm. 2026 dates were 18 March, 22 July, 16 September and 14 October; the rest of the 2026 programme is at St Albans Central Library and on Zoom.

The ‌‌‍Saint & Sinner is a McMullen's pub at 16 St Peter's Street in St Albans. It occupies a Grade II listed building from the 1760s that was once home to John Osborn, three times mayor of St Albans; McMullen's bought it in 2019 and opened it as a pub in 2023. It serves craft beers, cocktails, brunch, artisan pizza and Sunday roasts, with an outdoor terrace, shuffleboard and private function space. Its music ranges from chilled tunes to full bands, and it is over-18s only after 8pm.
