The Twisted Lip is a quirky craft-beer and live-music bar at 11–13 Baker Street, in the heart of Middlesbrough's cultural quarter (TS1 2LF). A firm favourite with locals since it opened in 2014, it does things a little differently — a carefully curated range of real ales, craft beers, ciders and fine spirits alongside a regular music programme. Its long-running, prestigious Thursday open mic night has been a fixture for years (celebrating its fifth year back in 2019) and remains the venue's live-music anchor, drawing acoustic, rock, indie and covers players from across Teesside onto its in-house PA. A characterful, tucked-away grassroots hideaway with a loyal following.

The Night
The Twisted Lip is a Sherlock-themed pub on Baker Street, Middlesbrough (11-13 Baker Street, TS1 2LF), and its open mic is something of an institution — running every Thursday from 8pm to 11pm, hosted by Nicholas Chapman, and going strong for over a decade. Every Thursday the bar fills with acoustics, rhythm and vocals from any artist who fancies a turn. Welcoming, well-established and free to take part — just bring your songs.
