The Night
The Tyne Bar is Newcastle's beloved riverside pub in the Ouseburn Valley, tucked beneath the Glasshouse Bridge where the Ouseburn meets the Tyne — and it's utterly devoted to free live music. The Tyne Bar Sessions open mic now runs every Wednesday, an easygoing, acoustic-leaning night in one of the city's most atmospheric beer gardens. It's free to play and free to watch, with a great drinks selection and an extensive food menu (vegan options included). A proper Newcastle institution for new and seasoned performers alike.
About The Tyne Bar
The Tyne Bar has been one of Newcastle's favourite independent pubs and live-music venues since it opened in November 1994, sitting on Maling Street in the creative Ouseburn Valley (NE6 1LP). Standing capacity is around 100. It's famous for a laid-back atmosphere and an unwavering commitment to free live music, with the Tyne Bar Sessions open mic running every Wednesday and regular free gigs across genres. Highlights include a signature free jukebox, a strong drinks list and food menu with vegan options, and a celebrated waterside beer garden framed by the redbrick arch of Glasshouse Bridge.
