The Night

Station East is a characterful Hadrian Border Brewery pub set in the historic railway arches near Newcastle, with a cosy main bar, a mezzanine and an atmospheric back room. Its 'Pure Class' open mic is a pop-up rather than a fixed weekly fixture — a warm, anything-goes night hosted by performer and spoken-word artist Mwelwa Chilekwa that welcomes poetry, comedy and music, newcomers and seasoned acts alike. Keep an eye on the venue's socials for the next date.

About Station East

Station East is Gateshead's quirkiest real-ale bar — the first pub opened by Hadrian Border Brewery — tucked into the 'Railway Quarter' by the Tyne and High-Level Bridges, with natural stonework and railway arches giving it an unpretentious industrial feel. It's grown into one of the best cultural venues on the south bank of the Tyne, with regular live music ranging from folk to contemporary, plus crafts, poetry and fairs, and a Tuesday quiz at 7pm. Live music runs on various evenings (check the chalkboard). A characterful, community-minded grassroots room on Hills Street suited to folk and acoustic acts.
