Fees & Payments
How do tips work?
Anyone can send a member a tip from their profile, whether or not they have a GigXchange account.
Sending a tip
- On the member's profile, press Send a tip - the text link in the line under their name, beside their fan count. On their setlist, stage plot, tour poster and what's-on pages the same button is a pill with a wallet icon reading Support this Artist (it names their role, so a venue's reads Support this Venue; on a narrow screen just Support).
- Pick £3, £5, £10 or £20, or type your own amount from £1 to £500.
- Add a message if you like, and switch on Tip anonymously if you would rather not be named.
- Not signed in? Fill in Your name and Email address.
- Press Continue to tip, then pay by card, or by Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link where your device offers them.
Tips are final and cannot be refunded.
Receiving tips
You need a connected Stripe account. Until you have one, anyone pressing your button sees Tipping not yet available instead of a payment form. See connecting Stripe.
A 5% platform fee is deducted and the rest is paid to your connected Stripe account at the time of the tip, not held like a booking payment. The tip window shows the split before anyone pays: a £5 tip means you get £4.75. You get a notification when a tip arrives.
Organiser accounts do not have a tip button. For the full fee picture, see the booking fee.
